Dr Lawrence Lewis, Dean, Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry, University of Guyana has won the prestigious Energy Globe Award for his project titled Management and Use of Acacia Plantations on mined out Sites as Bioenergy Plantations for improved Livelihoods of Mining Communities.
The ENERGY GLOBE AWARD is considered the most significant environmental award worldwide. This year more than 2,500 projects aimed at protecting the environment have been submitted by more than 180 countries around the world, UG said in the release. All national winners will be officially presented to the public for the first time on June 30, 2020 at www.energyglobe.info, a 2-minute-video by winning projects will presented and shown worldwide, these presentations will encompass (respective research problems and their practical solutions). The Energy Globe (The World Award for Sustainability) is presented annually to outstanding and sustainable projects in the area of environment and energy. Awards are presented on the national and international levels for the 5 categories of Earth, Fire, Water, Air and Youth. With more than 180 participating countries, the Energy Globe Award is today’s most renowned worldwide environmental award. The international recipients of each category are presented with their awards as part of a ceremony that is broadcast all over the world.
