Sachin Pitamber and Aditi Joshi both of Queen’s College excelled at the national under 14 championships held at Queen’s College last Saturday; 27th January.
Pitamber secured 6.5 points out of a possible 7 total point to capture the top spot in the Open division, while in the Girl’s division Aditi Joshi won all her games to earn an impressive 7 points to take first place.
Taking the second and third place respectively in the Under 14 open are the Zhang brothers, Nicholas and Alexander also of Queen’s College.
Winner of the Girls Under 12 Kataleya Sam, who advanced to the under 14 tournaments, held her own to earn the second position, Saura Ruplall won the third spot, she was also medaled in the under 12 girl’s tournament.
The Guyana Chess Federation gave acknowledgements to the Best Open U12 Player Aquilani Swaminadha and Best Girls U12 Player Kataleya Sam, Best Open U10 Player Vir Narine and Best Girls U10 Player Saura Ruplall.
The Tournament concluded with a short prize giving ceremony courtesy of Midway Specialty Care Center, winners in each division received trophies and medals for their outstanding performance.
The Federation thanked the organizers and committee members for their invaluable efforts in supervising the season of tournaments.
