STRIDE592, a year-round fun walking/running  event production company that promotes community health and wellness, is hosting the  Masquerade 5K Walk/Run and Kids Fun Run and Holiday Bazaar from 6 a.m. to noon at The  National Park on Sunday, December 3, 2023.

This event is a celebration of health, community- strength, and unity during the holidays, and is in  collaboration with Roraima Learning Trust (RLT), a Guyana-registered NGO that uses online  platforms to reduce the cost, and improve the efficacy, of providing learning opportunities to less  advantaged communities.

The 3.1-mile course winds through the heart of Georgetown’s festive cityscape. Starting at The  National Park, the route will take participants down Young Street to the festive Main Street  adorned with Christmas Village displays to the Bank of Guyana, and end at the Holiday Bazaar  within the park.

“The Masquerade 5K and Holiday Bazaar event is designed for families, wellness enthusiasts,  and friend groups seeking an active yet joyous bonding experience,” said Onika Jervis, founder  and CEO of STRIDE592. “ Whether racing for personal bests, vying for the best costume, or  strolling along the route, this event promotes active lifestyles and is for everyone.” In addition, it  will provide a chance for families and individuals to gather, to move and to fellowship with each  other as a way to relieve the stress brought on by the ongoing Guyana-Venezuela Border  Controversy.

After the 5K, participants will be treated to yoga and body stretches from professional practitioners  in addition to savoring traditional favorites such as pepperpot, homemade-style bread, and other  seasonal goodies. At the Holiday Bazaar, there will be a lively holiday costume contest, with a  curated selection of local vendors.

STRIDE592 is committed to building a healthier Guyana, one person, one family and one  community at a time. That means while we are walking, running and moving, we will be investing  our time and assets to bring awareness to issues and provide resources to sustainable programs  and organisations that are improving the quality of life for people who need it the most. More than  100 children ages 8 to 16 will be able to participate for free, and proceeds from the Masquerade  5K, Kids Fun Run and Holiday Bazaar will be donated to bring holiday joy and cheer to foster  home children and honor the achievements of the Enhancing Community Wellness (ECW)  program participants.

The Masquerade 5K, Kids Fun Run and Holiday Bazaar extends gratitude to the starting line  supporters whose generosity and commitment help make this event possible: WANSAT Network,  Supreme Laundromat, Living Turkoise, Global Logistics and Business Services, Maraka  Consulting LLC, New Vision Health Care, Body Goals Fitness Club and Chung’s Global  Construction.
