The Alliance For Change (AFC) in a statement says it is sickened by Vice President Bharrat Jagdeo’s remarks on Thursday at his press conference, where he described its Chairperson, Mrs. Cathy Hughes, a woman, wife, public personality and elected official as  “a low life.”

According to the party, the vile comments that continue to spew from the forked tongue of Jagdeo continue; even as his government claims to be reaching out and encouraging unity, solidarity and cooperation in the face of the threats coming from our Western neighbour.

To this end the party queries how can the government be taken as being sincere and serious in one breath, while  a senior official, such as Jagdeo, takes delight in denigrating senior officials of other stakeholders with nasty and misogynistic comments, in another breath.

The AFC has not only condemned Jagdeo but is also demanding an apology, while questioning the sincerity of the People’s Progressive Party /Civic (PPP/C) administration in its expressions and entreaties for all Guyanese to work together. It cannot be overemphasised, says the Party, that the foundation for cooperation and collaboration is respect. “It is clear that Jagdeo has no respect for anyone, and has a low regard for women. Shame on him, he is a national and dirty disgrace.”
