Georgetown – In a showcase of talent, determination, and resilience, members of the Archery Guild and Archery Guyana combined forces as they represented the nation at the 2023 CDC Championships in Trinidad and Tobago. The journey commenced with archers familiarizing themselves with the competition rules and engaging in intensive practice on day one. The subsequent day featured preliminary rounds, demanding each archer to shoot 12 rounds of 6 arrows. Several of Guyana’s archers showcased their prowess, qualifying for the elimination rounds with commendable scores.

On the climactic final day, amid soaring temperatures and heightened pressure, Guyana’s best held their own. Victoria Kum of the Archery Guild Team clinched gold in her inaugural international competition under the “Exceptional Beginners” category. Nataliya Pollard earned a deserving 3rd place in the Under 15 Women’s Barebow category, while Teemahall Lall secured a Silver medal for the Male Barebow.

The broader Guyanese team, with archers Jeewan Rampersaud, Roshini Boodhoo, and Saaed Persaud, also notched up their achievements, capturing multiple Gold and Silver medals. Beyond the medals, the competition provided invaluable experiences, as participants mingled with fellow competitors and coaches, imbibing learnings for subsequent tournaments.

Eyes are now set on CDC 2024, with hopes and expectations high. The team extends its heartfelt appreciation for the overwhelming support received and eagerly awaits continued encouragement in future endeavors.
