SINGAPORE – Team Guyana Robotics, an inspiring all-girls field team, is turning heads and making waves at the prestigious First Global Challenge here in Singapore. The team, currently standing strong in the top 20 rankings, is set to potentially enter the playoffs in a blaze of glory.

The road to success hasn’t been without its bumps. After suffering two initial losses, the team found themselves in a precarious position. However, the silver lining was that their individual game scores remained impressive, ensuring a place within the top 50 after the opening day.

But Team Guyana wasn’t about to let initial setbacks define their journey. The second day witnessed a dramatic turnaround in strategy and fortune. The team claimed victory in 5 of their 6 games, propelling them to the forefront among the top 20.

What makes this triumph even more astonishing is the obstacles the team faced leading up to the competition. The young champs braved a grueling four-day travel ordeal and took on the global challenge without even having a proper practice field back home. Yet, they’ve showcased unparalleled determination, spirit, and resilience in Singapore.  The team especially wanted to thank Duke Lodge, GTT, the IDB, Courts & Dr. Paloma Mohammed-Martin, and all the parents, Diaspora members, and supporters who donated and who purchased their fundraising t-shirts.  These sponsors, they claim, made participation possible.

The team’s enchanting journey is a testament to their sheer willpower and passion and to what happens when opportunity meets Guyanese talent. These brilliant young minds are not just representing Guyana; they are shining examples of dedication for youngsters worldwide. They’re a beacon of pride for their families, communities, the STEMGuyana organization, and the nation at large.

As they gear up for the final two games tomorrow, they have hopes of making the playoffs and the momentum is on their side. Here’s a rallying cry to our champions: Let’s go, Team Guyana! The nation is rooting for you!
