US Embassy Guyana Wishes Team Guyana Robotics well, Engages on STEM and Education Opportunities

In a vibrant gathering yesterday, members of Team Guyana Robotics 2023 had a productive interaction with representatives from the US Embassy in Guyana. Leading the embassy’s delegation was the Chargé d’affaires, Ms. Adrienne Galanek accompanied by Foreign Service Officer Zhanna Imel. Ms Galanek articulated the US Embassy’s staunch commitment to promoting STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education and, notably, accentuating the participation of girls in STEM-related endeavors.

In a live demonstration, the members of Team Guyana Robotics proudly showcased the robot they had meticulously designed, built, and readied for the upcoming First Global Challenge set to take place in Singapore. The presentation was met with admiration and commendation from Ms. Galanek, who expressed her deep-seated impression of the team’s talent and prowess.

Highlighting the solid partnership between the US Embassy and STEMGuyana, Ms. Galanek reflected on their collaborative effort at the National Library. This joint venture has seen more than 300 students benefit from the Library’s STEM club program, an initiative aimed at fostering enthusiasm and proficiency in STEM among the youth.

In addition to celebrating the team’s accomplishments and potential, Ms. Galanek took the opportunity to introduce the young technologists to the myriad services available through the EducationUSA Advising Center at the US Embassy in Guyana. Emphasizing the value of higher education and the opportunities that lie abroad, she urged the budding scholars to explore the diverse scholarships and programs on offer.

As the meeting concluded, the embassy representative conveyed her best wishes to the team for their upcoming challenge in Singapore, underscoring the immense talent they displayed and the bright future ahead of them.
