The Guyana Police Force (GPF) is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 60-year-old medical doctor who was found dead in his Roxanne Burnham, Gardens, Georgetown home Friday.

According to Police, the deceased lived alone and was last seen alive on Monday at about 19:30h by a neighbour. It was reported that the doctor informed his neighbour that he was feeling unwell.

On Friday at about 11:00h, the said neighbour checked and called out to Torrington but received no response and as a result summoned the Police who in turn responded and discovered the man’s motionless body.

There was no evidence of marks of violence on Torrington’s body.

“Checks conducted on the home showed no signs of forced entry neither was it ransacked,” the police stated.

Torrington is the brother of Troy Torrington, Director of the Multilateral and Global Affairs Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“Our grief is beyond words… but God understands. Mourning the sudden loss of our dear Dr. Wesley Torrington,” he said on his social media page on Friday.

Meanwhile, Shauna Torrington-Griffith, the deceased sister said: “If you know me, you know what my brothers mean to me. I would always tell him there will be two Dr. Torringtons. This linguist is without words. RIP and RIG my beloved brother Dr. Wesley Torrington. I salute you.”

Torrington’s body is presently at the Lyken Funeral Home awaiting a post mortem examination as investigations continue.
