Prominent former Georgetown Mayor Pt. Ubraj Narine recently participated in the joyous festival of Raksha Bandhan, exemplifying his commitment to fostering unity and goodwill within the community. In a heartwarming gesture, he graciously accepted rakhis, sacred protective threads, tied to his wrist by two sisters from the Brahma Kumaris Yoga Centre.

Raksha Bandhan, a traditional Indian festival, is celebrated by brothers and sisters worldwide. The occasion symbolises the bond of love, protection, and a pledge of lifelong support between siblings. It is a time-honoured tradition in which sisters tie rakhis around the wrists of their brothers, symbolising their prayers for their brothers’ well-being and happiness.
