Late October, a team from the Private Office of Maktoum paid a courtesy call on Minister of Natural Resources, Vickram Bharrat to discuss possible areas for collaboration in the oil and gas sector as well as in mining, forestry, and agriculture.

Minister Bharrat, during his engagement with the investors, stated that Guyana is open for business and is hoping to diversify and strengthen the country’s traditional sectors. He pointed out that the Government will not depend solely on the country’s oil and gas resources and outlined opportunities available within the mining and forest sectors for development and value-added activities.
Guyana and the UAE have shared diplomatic ties since February 6, 1995. Recent developments show that in 2018, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the UAE announced that its citizens with diplomatic, private and regular passports could henceforth travel visa-free to Guyana and will obtain visas upon arrival.

To make way for the travel and stay of the delegation, the Guyana Police Force (GPF) has advised the public that the following roads will be closed from November 19-21: Regent Street and Shiv Chanderpaul Drive – No Entry; South Road and Oronoque Street – No Entry East; Bridge from Croal Street to South Road – No Entry; Vlissengen Road and South Road – No Entry North; Oronoque and Charlotte Streets – No Entry Eastl Parade and Young Streets – No Entry West; High and Young streets – No Entry East; Duke and Barrack streets – No Entry North.

The Force apologized for any inconvenience caused.
