Persaud, in the meeting, outlined the government’s interest in facilitating investment and closer trade ties.

Smith noted that Guyana and the BVI can collaborate on a number of areas drawing on each other’s experience and potential. Prior to the visit, she signalled the team would have a packed agenda with meetings and presentations lined up with the Guyanese Government and business sector.

The aim of these engagements, according to Smith’s ministry, is to foster collaborative opportunities, enhance bilateral trade, and promote mutual economic growth. Dawson is expected to hold crucial meetings centred on agriculture and food security to explore “potential partnerships and strategies to boost the BVI’s food security, leveraging Guyana’s agricultural expertise.”

The team is here from July 30- August 4.
