Last Friday H.W Mayor Pt. Ubraj Narine embarked on a walkabout tour of the newly constructed Administration Building of the Mayor and City Council of Georgetown. The purpose of the visit was to assess the progress made so far.
Joined by Assistant Engineer Kabila Hollingsworth, Mayor Narine expressed his gratitude for ensuring the successful construction of the Administration Building was able to commence last year 2022. The tour provided an opportunity to closely examine the construction site, evaluate the work done, and identify any areas that require immediate attention.
During the walkabout, Mayor Narine acknowledged the frustration felt by the public due to the delays in completing the building. He reassured the public that the city council is actively working to resolve the issues and expedite the construction process.
The city council is fully dedicated to overcoming the obstacles faced during the construction phase, Working closely with the contractors and relevant authorities to ensure the building is completed as soon as possible.
The Mayor also emphasised the importance of transparent communication and keeping the public informed about the progress made. Regular updates should be provided to the public to maintain transparency and accountability throughout the completion process.
The Administration Building project holds significant promise for the staff and public of Georgetown, as it will serve as a central hub for municipal operations, housing various administrative departments under one roof. The Ground floor and first floor will house the city treasurer departments and cashiers, the second floor will house the Town Clerk Secretariat and the third floor will be the Mayor and Deputy Mayor complex. Once the building is completed, the building will provide enhanced services to the community, streamlining operations to improve efficiency.
Mayor Narine concluded the walkabout by expressing gratitude to the public for their patience and understanding as he prepares to demit office.  He acknowledged that while delays can be frustrating, the result will be a facility that benefits the entire city with hopes that the new Mayor and Councillors, Administration, and Central Government can work in unity to ensure its completion.
