Guyana is expected to receive below-normal amounts of rainfall from July, according to the Hydrometeorological Service seasonal weather outlook for the period June to August.

The country is forecast to begin its transition into dry conditions by mid-July into August due to the influence of El Niño.

The Hydrometeorological Service said El Niño will drive weather in Guyana for the rest of 2023.

Above normal day and night time temperatures will be recorded in all of Guyana’s 10 administrative regions.

Dry days will be significantly warmer than wet days.

Meanwhile, the Hydrometeorological Service reported that the water supply in conservancies, reservoirs, and inland rivers across all of Guyana’s 10 regions is expected to remain adequate until the end of June.

Guyanese, who are dependent on rainfall for their agriculture and large-scale operations, are advised to harvest rainwater during the latter part of June to compensate for deficiencies in the coming months. (Loop News)
