The Guyana Police Force has expressed it has a zero-tolerance policy for persons who feel they can attack and assault policemen and women at their whims and fancy. The Force in a release was referring to video circulating on social media (see below) of two men physically and verbally assaulting a Police rank in uniform who was carrying out his duties.

Acting Commissioner of Police Mr. Clifton Hicken has expressed outrage at the assault and said this behaviour would not be tolerated, and anyone who feels they can assault and attack the Police while carrying out their sworn duty to serve and protect will face the full brunt of the law.

Hicken also commended the bystander (a former cop) who intervened and assisted the rank by confronting the two assailants.

The police said one of the assailants, Kessee Edwards, was arrested, and there is a search on for the second assailant.

The force is also calling on the general public to continue to assist the Police in the maintenance
