Police make marijuana bust on Berbice River

Two West Bank Berbice men have been arrested by Police after being busted with 11 kilograms of suspected cannabis in the Berbice River on Sunday.

According to reports, Police during a marine patrol at Mara, East Bank Berbice intercepted a wooden boat after observing an occupant throwing a white bulky bag into the river.

The bag which contained seven parcels of cannabis leaves, seeds and stems was retrieved by the law enforcement officers and inspected in the presence of the two men who occupied the boat.

The duo was arrested.
