PPP instructed workers to participate in Nomination Day or lose pay

Today is Nomination Day for the Local Government Elections scheduled for Monday, June 12, 2023.  Workers who receive the monthly $60,000 under some amorphous programme created by the People’s Progressive Party (PPP) government have been instructed to march with the PPP contingent today to present the Party’s List to the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM). Per a circular passed around on Sunday persons were told those “who refused to go will lose their pay for tomorrow (Monday).” Similar circulars have been distributed around other groups.

In a recording, heard by this publications, persons are being encouraged to turn up to participate in the Nomination Day march and their pay for the day will be taken care of.
