For this the adage is known; a drowning man will clutch at a straw. Where the prevailing interpretation is, when hope of success is fading, people will try anything, no matter how unlikely it’s, to provide a solution. However, in the context of PPP, this adage should be differently viewed—A sinking political ship will forever endeavour not to sink alone.

PPP sinking ship

Pres. Ali on Arrival Day

For this PPP sinking ship, is taking on voluminous water, having failed to navigate multiple political icebergs. Where, as articulated in the drowning man adage, a certainly drowning PPP, is clutching onto every and anything, to ensure drowning is with company.

Thus, Covid we explored, which as a titanic iceberg, not only exposed PPP incompetence, but delivered onboard a deluge of water. Where 1,298 died, with 73,119 infected, as thousands are burdened with the sequelae, Long Covid.

Thereinafter, this iceberg, the Jagdeo-Su incestuous relationship. For the details are beyond sordid, thus is better not rehashed. Nonetheless, suffice to state, it entails Grand corruption, Grand money laundering and Grand waters aboard the sinking ship.

Then the Sugar Industry, death certified nearly two decades ago, nevertheless the inevitable cremation is being deferred, through wasted billions. Which means, after collision with this perennial iceberg, ship inspection was mandated, revealing Noah level flooding onboard.

Which takes us to the failing economy, that’s failing to provide, pun intended, the average many with hope. For cost of living has transition cost of dying, such that the average many are struggling to put a meal on their table. The average many, struggling to build a home. The average many, struggling to pay their rent. The average many, struggling to pay their utility bills. The average many, struggling to put petrol in their vehicles, in an oil producing country. The average many, struggling to pay their daily travel fares. Thus essentially, the average many, struggling to live, as more water breaches the PPP sinking ship, having failed to navigate yet another iceberg.

Thus Mocha, Success and Linden, we remind, where homes and livelihoods were intentionally demolished. Where the underlying reasons for these destructions were, PPP racist and anti-APNU+AFC policies. Which meant, as they flooded Success, more water was breaching their wrecked political ship.

Then this, the unconstitutional act, in dissolving the Police Service Commission, by the anencephalic university dropout. Where such a National embarrassment this was, that many labelled us the Humpty Dumpty Nation of fools, unable to navigate ginormous icebergs.

Mark’s Take

Which means, with the ship sinking as a consequence of incompetent icebergs navigation, PPP like a drowning man in despair, is trying through provocations, to take us to the seabed with them.

Where, firstly was the murders of the Henry boys, orchestrated with evil intent—to provoke a race war. Thereafter, was the arresting and charging of extrajudicial killing protestors, with terrorism. Soon after, was the arresting and charging of Sherod Duncan, for causing emotional distress.

Next was a wanted bulletin for Rickford Burke. Then was the intimidation of the media, especially Kaieteur News, for reporting on the lopsided oil contract. But with all the devilish provocations, we have remained steadfast and disciplined. As a result, on reporting to their dwindling supporters, their report card was only of shocking failures. This meant, the ante had to be upped, hence the political arrest of Ogunseye, a prominent National hero, for his poor choice of words. Now having him politically arrested and charged, they sit back in anticipation of mayhem, to take the country down in their sinking ship.

Which means, this point must be repeated ad nauseam—regardless of their infuriating provocations, we as a people, must be measured in our response. We must provide a deaf ear to any amongst us, who are chanting revolution and street protest. We must not fall for PPP elephant trap, that will draw us into a confrontation, to provide themselves a smokescreen for their failures. This means, like the bubonic plague, we must avoid street protests. Any semblance of a revolution, we must keep a social distance, like if it were a resurgence of the Covid pandemic. Instead, these should be our protest;

  1. Economic boycott, hitting them where it will hurt—in their pockets.
  2. Civil disobedience, to communicate to the wider world, the unjust and unequal application of their dictatorial terrorism laws.
  3. Social media presence, to globally rinse their racist linen.

For this my admonishment, we as a people are smart and calculating, so must be smart and calculating, like a chess grandmaster.
