Police are investigating an alleged robbery which occurred at the National Insurance Scheme, Corriverton, East Berbice- Corentyne (Region Six) early Wednesday morning.

According to the Police, Calder and Mckenzie were in two separate guard huts while Trotman was sitting on a table charging her phone, when two males approached them fully clad in dark clothing. One of the males confronted Trotman and took away her Samsung Galaxy J3 Prime phone which was charging.

The men then ventured towards Calder and McKenzie as Trotman screamed alerting her colleagues. Mckenzie, who was armed with the revolver, rushed out of her hut after hearing the screams of her colleague but she too was confronted by the men who relieved her of the weapon.

Calder, upon hearing the commotion, went to see what was happening. She was greeted by the men who took away her Samsung Galaxy A20 and $45,000 cash after which they made good their escape heading east towards the seawall.

The guards made contact with the Springlands Police Station and on arrival to the National Insurance Scheme compound, police found a black and red haversack containing, the revolver that was reportedly taken from Mckenzie and other items. The haversack reportedly belongs to Mckenzie.

Police have since secured the items at the Springlands Police Station and have dusted them for fingerprints. CCTV footage have also been viewed by the Police.

Investigations are ongoing.
