Relatives of Raoul Archer, the 25-year-old police constable, who died on Saturday night following an accident on the Fellowship Public Road, East Coast Demerara (ECD), believe that the accident may have been caused by an unlit trailer parked along the road.
In an interview with Village Voice Guyana, a relative said “That is the information we have… That he may have hit the vehicle alongside the road because it was unlighted.”
According to reports, Archer was driving motorcar PYY 2468 and was proceeding east along the Fellowship Public Road when he lost control and collided with a parked trailer, PSS 8923.
Relatives at his Lot 82 Lovely Lass, West Coast Berbice (WCB) home told Village Voice that at the time of the accident, Archer, who was stationed at the Fort Wellington Police Station and the sole occupant of the car, was returning to his home from a visit to Mahaicony. The young man was scheduled to work that night.
“He loved to dance… hip hop stuff! He was full of energy; full of life. He will be sorely missed,” Cindy (only name given), Archer’s cousin told Village Voice Guyana.
Archer’s remains are at the Mahaicony Hospital mortuary awaiting a post mortem examination after which, it will be handed over to relatives for burial.
The police constable is survived by his father, Raoul Archer, Snr. and three sisters.
