David Rose is a highly regarded science teacher with over nine years of teaching experience at Kingston Secondary School. Born and raised in Kwakwani, a small community, he was fortunate to attend Richard Ishmael Secondary on a government scholarship program. His passion for teaching and professional artistry is reflected in his dedication to developing well-rounded students who possess intrinsic motivation to learn, good mental health, life skills, and an awareness of their gifts.
In addition to his role as a science teacher, Mr. Rose also serves as an assistant tennis coach, helping young kids unleash their talents, much like his inspiration, the legendary Serena Williams. As a travel enthusiast, his favorite destination is the Dutch island of Curacao, where he explores the language and culture of the people.
Mr. Rose is an advocate for innovative and modern agriculture and is currently working on his own vertical farming business. He is passionate about promoting sustainability, food security, and combating climate change through the school system. His efforts have produced students who are now immigration officers, nurses, and business entrepreneurs.
Recently, Mr. Rose joined STEM Guyana as an online science teacher, and he has proven to be exceptional in this role. Despite the challenges of teaching online, he has managed to meet the basic needs of his students, including those with special needs. He constantly strives to improve his teaching methods and provides new ideas to the class based on the unique needs of each group of students.
Reflecting on his experience with STEM Guyana, Mr. Rose says, “I have been employed by STEM Guyana for over six months as an online science teacher. This program has helped build my career, and I’ve had the opportunity to work with students from different regions, and it has been such a pleasure.” He also expressed how he enjoys doing research and providing new ideas to the class. The response from pod leaders has been positive, with students requesting his services, which has been an affirming experience for Mr. Rose.
He strongly believes in the STEM Guyana program and encourages parents to enroll their children in the program. He adds, “The students I’ve worked with from grade one to grade nine have really been amazing. Overall, I strongly believe that this program is a really good program.”
