The Waiakabra Church has received a generous donation of equipment from Strategic Recruitment Solutions, represented by Ms. Kerri Gravesande-Bart. The equipment, which includes a laptop, five FireHD tablets, and a robotic kit, will be used to open a STEM club for the community’s children. The program is a collaboration with STEMGuyana’s nationwide STEM club program, where all clubs are a part of a national STEM league.

This league enables students to strengthen their science, math, robotics, artificial intelligence, and coding knowledge, while also developing critical soft skills necessary for success in any career. According to STEMGuyana Media Representative, L. Caleb Christian, “STEMGuyana and partners are working to help create a new generation of industry leaders in Guyana, and we believe that children in every community in Guyana should have access to these opportunities.”

The equipment was handed over to the church’s pastor during a ceremony this morning, along with internet access to ensure the children can make the most of the technology. The Waiakabra Church currently has around 40 children who attend Sunday school every week, and the new STEM club will provide an exciting and educational opportunity for these children.

The equipment was sponsored by Strategic Recruitment Solutions Inc. Ms. Gravesande-Bart noted that, “if we want a nation where our future leaders, neighbors, and workers can understand and solve some of the complex challenges of today and tomorrow, and to meet the demands of the dynamic and evolving workforce, building students’ skills, content knowledge, and literacy in STEM fields is essential. We must also make sure that, no matter where children live, they have access to quality learning environments. A child’s location should not determine their STEM literacy and educational options. We are very happy to able to contribute of this community and look forward to future collaborations.”
