Mr. Christopher Jones, Opposition Chief Whip, has accused Speaker of the National Assembly, Mr. Manzoor Nadir, of seemingly direct unfairness and bias towards the Parliamentary Opposition. In a statement Jones said throughout the debates the Speaker continued to show his true colours in his ruling between the Government and Opposition. Jones stated that “as the old saying goes, ‘long time done, short time left’”

Jones said the Speaker’s attitude was demonstrated as recently as Thursday during the Budget debates. According to Whip, Thursday “another incident occurred that highlighted a pattern of unfair and biased behaviour [and] submit for [readers] own judgement the use of words in [Government Member of Parliament] Charles Ramson’s presentation that was quoted from Mark Twain and the use of words in [Opposition Member of Parliament] Sherod Duncan’s presentation that was disallowed.”

He has submitted hereunder (experts and videos) and invited readers to exercise their own judgement in the language usage in Charles Ramson’s presentation that was quoted from Mark Twain and compared to usage in Sherod Duncan’s presentation that was disallowed.

Charles Ramson Jr. “I’m reminded of a quote from Mark Twain, where he said let’s be thankful for fools because without them the rest of us wouldn’t be able to succeed.”

Sherod Duncan, “President Barack Obama in his first inaugural speech in 2009, speaking to an equally divided nation said ‘Those who cling to power through corruption and deceit and the silencing of dissent….’”

Jones pointed out the Speaker interjected on Duncan’s presentation and ruled the word “corruption” unparliamentary.

The Chief Whip said he had cause during his Budget debate presentation to make reference to the Speaker’s seemingly direct bias and unfairness towards the Parliamentary Opposition but the Speaker has denied it.
