Guyana’s justice reforms lead to quicker criminal proceedings, reduced backlog

The January Criminal Assizes in Demerara opened this morning — January 10 — outside the High Court in Georgetown with a parade hosted by the Guyana Police Force. Corporals Clifford George and Troy Van Rossum were on hand to capture photos of the traditional march past held on Croal Street, by ranks of the Tactical Services Unit and the Guyana Police Force’s Band.
Among those in attendance were the Minister of Legal Affairs and Attorney General Mohabir Anil Nandlall, and Commander for Regional Police Division 4A Assistant Commissioner Simon McBean.
