When United States (U.S) Senator Lindsey Graham spoke of his support for Georgia candidate to the U.S Senate, Herschel Walker, it was with a clear message to the American people. Graham felt a Walker victory is not about representing the people of Georgia, but a victory that could influence African American confidence in the Republican Party which is perceived to be unfriendly to ethnic minorities.
In the U.S, Walker’s candidacy was interpreted by African Americans as an ‘Uncle Tom’ figure that would willingly legitimise and front white supremacy and domination of minorities.
Georgia social activist and megachurch pastor, Jamal Bryant, said “Since Herschel Walker was 16 years old, white men been telling him what to do, telling him what school to go to, where to live … where to pay for abortions, where to buy a gun, and you think they not gon’ tell him how to vote?”
Bryant continued. “In 2022, we don’t need a Walker, we need a runner. We need somebody to run and tell the truth about Jan. 6. Georgia, I need you to know, the slave Negro y’all are used to don’t live here no more. We can think for ourselves, function for ourselves, and vote for ourselves! Why? Because we don’t need a Walker.”
As we come home to Guyana every time Bharrat Jagdeo and his cabal want to silent African and other voices that dissent or present alternative views, they let loose the local house slaves, the most recent being Kwame McCoy.
With Black attack dogs, Joe Hamilton, Mark Phillips, Hugh Todd and Juan Edghill, having the feces pot spilled on them and not their massa’s intended target, the PPP now sends out the miniature one, the chihuahua. Just as the others were swallowed in the miasmic mess so too will he.
During last week there was a letter in the newspaper signed by McCoy. In that letter he attacked yours truly, Lelon Saul, Nigel Hinds, David Hinds and Rickford Burke for defending and fighting for the human rights and dignity of the African race in Guyana
I am not now in the struggle for rights and the rule of now. It matters not to me who is upset by or benefit from my activism. And where I, as a 6’ 3 ½” Black man, see my race is under constant assault, I’ll be a damn fool to sit silent or not engage in legitimate actions, including civil disobedience, to right the wrongs.
Whereas the chihuahua is content, like his colleagues, to remain on a leash, I am from the lineage that fought chattel slavery, survived to tell the tale and carry on the legacy, standing on my feet. I am not of the house slave lineage who were freed not because of their actions but benefited from the fight of others. If Black leaders are comfortable in the house slave role, they shall find no kindred spirit in me.
Let them return to their masters with their tails between their legs. Let them inform Jagdeo, Lincoln Lewis says he is a coward. Jagdeo can only behave in a certain manner when the power and authority of the state are at his disposal. Devoid of the trappings he’s a wimp looking for friends and talking name around the place. To him the state becomes the instrument to attack and demonise people and deny them what is justly theirs.
There shall be no apology for my stand against this racist government that deliberately sets out to marginalise, oppress, discriminate and demonise the African community. My proud ancestry won’t allow me to crawl on my knees. I rather died fighting on my feet with my dignity intact because no morsel from the massa’s table or great house could be greater than these.
I and I take the liberty to add Saul, Hinds, Burke and others, who want a better society for all Guyanese will only stop agitating when the PPP comes to the table and agree to address our concerns. Outside of that there shall be no relenting.
