The body of a man who drowned at Hamburg Beach, Essequibo River Sunday was recovered Monday morning.
Police had said that they were investigating the alleged drowning of Umal Jaggernauth, age 25yrs of Spring Garden, Essequibo Coast which occurred about 12:30 hrs at Hamburg Beach, Essequibo River Sunday.
Enquiries disclosed that Jaggernauth lives at the mentioned address with his family and about 11:30 hours he allegedly left his residence along with 25 of his family members in a wooden vessel, enroute to Hamburg Beach. On arrival at the said beach Jaggernauth family members exited the said boat and went ashore, leaving Jaggernauth and his uncle Randy to moor the boat. After they finished mooring the boat, Jaggernauth and his uncle began to swim to shore but only Randy reached to shore, the victim did not and was nowhere in site.
The other family members were alerted and later went in search for Jaggernauth but they were unable to locate his body which remains missing.
