A 27-year-old Amerindian miner, who went missing in mid-April at Toroparu Backdam, Lower Puruni River in Region Seven, was discovered dead by the police.
Dead is 27-year-old Noel Anthony Fredericks. His body was discovered last Wednesday (April 27) in a decomposed state. Fredericks was reportedly killed and his dumped shortly after having anal sex with another man.
According to the Guyana Police Force, the young miner went missing sometime between April 14 and April 20, 2022.
Police investigators traveled to Toroparu Backdam on April 27, and upon arrival made contact with a 29-year-old miner (name withheld) of Nabacalis, ECD, in whose presence Fredricks was last seen.

The East Coast Demerara man was subsequently arrested and questioned. It was while being interrogated, the 29-year-old miner told the police that after consuming alcohol at a shop in Toroparu Backdam on April 15, he opted to tow Fredericks back to his camp. However, during the ride, Fredericks reportedly asked the suspect to have anal sex with him,
“The suspect said he agreed, and when they were through, an argument ensued during which he choked Fredericks whilst simultaneously covering his mouth and nose resulting in his death,” the police disclosed.
It is alleged that the suspect then tied the deceased hands behind his back and took his body to a hole that an excavator had dug, and buried it.
The suspect took detectives back to the said hole which he identified. The hole, which was filled with water, was drained and the naked body of the deceased man was found in a decomposing state with the hands bounded behind.
