Scotiabank Carmichael Street, Georgetown, branch has announced that it will be closed until further notice after one of its employees tested positive for the coronavirus.

In a message shared to its social media Wednesday morning, the branch stated: “Enhanced protocols have been implemented following a confirmed COVID-19 case at the Carmichael Street Branch. We have been informed that one of our employees at the Carmichael Street Branch, who has been quarantined since exhibiting symptoms, has tested positive for the coronavirus. Our colleague is now under the medical supervision of the Ministry of Health. Please be advised that our Carmichael Street Branch is temporarily closed until further notice.”

There are six ATMs located at the Carmichael Street location. The branch invited its users to utilize Scotia’s online banking to pay their bills, transfer funds and more.

To date, Guyana has recorded a total of 1,958 positive COVID-19 cases. Some 15 persons are in the Intensive Care Unit while 58 persons have died already as a result of the virus
