Police are investigating the death of Melinda Henry a twenty-nine- year old housewife of Bun Sugar Creek, North West District, which occurred between the 8th – 9th September 2020.
In a release police said enquires revealed that Henry and her reputed husband a 59 year old mechanic of the said address were in their camp imbibing, after which he went to speak with his Father-in-law then returned to the camp where he observed the woman was not in the camp. He immediately informed his Father-in-law and they began a search for the missing woman.
About 23:00 hrs on Tuesday they abandoned the search effort after being unable to locate her. However on Tuesday the reputed husband proceeded to the Baramita Police Station, to make a report when he was contacted by his father and brother in law informing that his reputed wife is dead.
However, he still preceded to the Police Station and made a report after which a rank from the said station accompanied him on his return to Burn Sugar Creek. On arrival he saw his reputed wife’s body floating in the creek. The body was fished out of the creek and examined by the medic and police who observed bruises on her upper right thigh and pronounced her dead.
The body was then transferred to the Port Kaituma Hospital Mortuary, no arrest at this time investigation ongoing.
