Cyclist killed in smash-up outside Yokohama Auto Sales

Pedal cyclist was on Thursday afternoon killed when the driver of pick-up truck attempted to overtake several vehicles and smashed into him outside of Yokohoma Auto Sales on the Bel Air, Public Road Greater Georgetown.

Dead is Navindra Doray 40, of Lot 101 Block F Sophia, Greater Georgetown. The accident occurred around 13:00hrs when Tacoma pick-up driven by a 25-year-old Trinidadian national residing at Oronoque Street, Queenstown, Georgetown.

Police said that Doray was proceeding west along the southern side of the southern carriageway of the road while the pickup was travelling in the said direction at a very fast rate of speed and as the pickup was approaching Yokohama Auto Sales which is on the southern side of the road, the driver proceeded to overtake several vehicles on the inside and in doing so collided with the pedal cyclist and then lost control and collided with Yokohama Concrete fence, turned turtle and ended up on the centre of the driveway on it’s right side.
As result of the collision the pedal cyclist fell onto the road surface receiving injuries to his head and body, the driver and an a 32-yr-old male occupant of the pickup received injuries about their body, they were all picked up and taken to Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation by Ambulance Service (EMT) where they were seen and examined by a doctor on duty, the pedal cyclist was pronounced dead while the driver of the motor pickup and occupant are presently receiving medical treatment. The body of deceased was taken to the Lyken Funeral Palour awaiting autopsy.
