“Hon. Harmon, will be out of the jurisdiction for a period of 10 days on a private visit,” the Opposition Chief Whip said.

According to a reliable source, Forde, a Senior Counsel and Member of Parliament, will be acting in Harmon’s absence. “Meeting with stakeholders is an important function [of the Opposition Leader] that happens on a day to day basis, so that’s a critical function,” the source explained.

It was also explained that MP Forde will also be managing the Office of the Leader of the Opposition and in doing so, liaising with staff and Opposition MPs.

The acting Opposition Leader, who was admitted to the bar in 1997, was admitted to the Inner Bar in December 2020. He was among legal counsel involved the series of constitutional cases in the High Court, Court of Appeal and Caribbean Court of Justice between December, 2018 and August 2, 2020. Currently, he is the lead attorney in the Election Petition cases representing the interest of the A Partnership for National Unity + Alliance For Change (APNU+AFC) Coalition.
