UG’s first semester to begin online in October

University of Guyana

The University of Guyana (UG), on Tuesday, announced that due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the institution will continue to work in ‘safe mode’.

As such, the first semester for the 2020-2021 Academic Year, will be held online. The semester is also now slated to begin on October 5, 2020, and will conclude on February 13, 2021.

New and continuing students will be able to register from August 31, 2020, to September 30, 2020. The University will also be performing its orientation online for the new semester, from October 5-9, 2020, and classes begin on October 12,2020.

Further, late registration ends on November 6, 2020, while the end date for change of registration, requests for transfers, requests for exemptions of courses and requests for withdrawal is November 13, 2020.

Students will have a November 27, 2020 deadline for payment of fees or submission of loan award. Final examinations for the semester will be held from January 25, 2021, to February 13, 2021.

According to UG, this situation will be assessed and updated accordingly for the second semester. For any clarifications and questions, continuing students are encouraged to contact their Heads of Department, while New Applicants and the Public may call or WhatsApp: 592-623-8325; 592-623-3159 between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm (Monday to Friday) or Email: admissions@uog.edu.gy copy to Fixug@uog.edu.gy for queries.
