Armed bandits rob GR Taxi Service driver at Agricola

….19-year-old in custody, woman, other male on the run 

A GR Taxi Service driver was held at gunpoint at Agricola and robbed by three armed bandits, among them a woman. One of the bandits, a 19-year-old male has since been arrested while, the woman, whose identity is known to the police, and another unidentified male are on the run.

The Guyana Police Force, in a statement on Tuesday, said the robbery took place on Monday, May 24, 2021 at around 19:45hrs at First Street, Agricola.

Investigations thus far have revealed that the victim –  a 31-year-old male taxi driver attached to GR Taxi Service – was working when the three perpetrators entered the car and requested to be taken to First Street, Agricola.
On arrival at the said location, one of the individuals who was in the front passenger seat put the gear stick into park. It was then that they all pointed guns at the victim.

“Two of the perpetrators carried out a search and took away the victim belongings. The victim was also
dealt a lash to his head and the perpetrators then made good their escape on foot east along a dam,” the police disclosed. The taxi driver was robbed of a Samsung Galaxy J-7 cellular phone valued $47,000; a black wallet valued $5,000; and $10,000. The armed bandits also stole his documents.

A report was made at the Agricola Police Outpost. The patrol escorted the victim into Agricola and he pointed out the 19-year-old as one of the perpetrators, who was arrested.

Investigation in to robbery is ongoing.
