Tuschen man killed during drunken brawl

The Guyana Police Force is investigating a report of an alleged murder committed on Floyd Mc Garrell, a 34 year-old driver of Tuschen (Wrong Turn Squatting Area) on the East Bank of Essequibo on Sunday.

The incident reportedly occurred about 04:45hrs at Back Street Tuschen Squatting Area, EBE. The suspect is said to be a 41-year-old fisherman from Tuschen, police said in a release. According to the police release,
enquires disclosed that McGarrell was living with his reputed wife Natasha Dass, a 36 year-year-old woman. Around 02:00hrs Sunday McGarrell  was consuming alcohol with the suspect and two other friends, about 75 feet away from his house. He reportedly left his friends and went home for a while. He then left his home telling his reputed wife he will be back.

Mc Garrell returned with his friends to continue imbibing. Shortly after, around 04:00hrs, Mc Garrell’s reputed wife said she heard an argument with the now deceased man and his friends. As a result, she went to the scene where she saw her husband and the suspect in a heated argument. The suspect allegedly dealt the deceased a cuff to his face followed by a stab to his abdomen with a scissors.  The suspect then made good his escape.
The wounded Mc Garrell was assisted home, after which his reputed wife went to a neighbour for assistance to take him to the hospital. The woman said that when she returned from the neighbour, she found her husband lying motionless. She then raised an alarm after which she reported the matter to Leonora Police Station.
The scene was processed. One stab wound was seen on the abdomen of the deceased. Several persons were questioned in the area and useful information were received, police said.

Checks were make for the suspect, who was later arrested and is presently in custody.
McGarrell’s body was then taken to Leonora Cottage Hospital, where it was pronounced Dead on Arrival. It was then taken to Ezekiel Funeral Home at Best Village, West Coast Demerara, awaiting a PME.
