The flash gas compressor and silencers from aboard the Liza Destiny FPSO, which were recently repaired, are expected to depart for Guyana this week as ExxonMobil hopes to reduce ongoing above-average flaring.

In an update provided, the Company stated: “Teams are finalizing the logistics for the departure of the flash gas compressor and silencers from Germany to Guyana this week. This follows the successful completion of repairs, upgrades and mechanical testing of the compressor by MAN Energy Solutions, the equipment’s manufacturer, with quality assurance and control by experts from the vessel’s owner SBM Offshore as well as ExxonMobil.”

President of ExxonMobil Guyana, Alistair Routledge has described the issues experienced as “unusual” and “complex” for a compressor. Even so, he has thanked Guyanese for remaining patient and expressed ExxonMobil’s commitment to resolving the issue.

In anticipation of the arrival of the compressor and silencers, teams on the Liza Destiny FPSO continue to prepare rigging and lifting equipment for reinstallation.

Meanwhile, ExxonMobil is also working to ensure that flaring remains minimum offshore while maintaining an average of 120,000 bpd production-wise. A team from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Guyana Geology and Mines Commission (GGMC) are progressing inspection of operations offshore.
