  • His Majesty King Charles III will visit Guyana this week (29 to 30 October) to mark 60 years of UK-Guyana relations
  • His Majesty’s programme will reflect the strength of the modern partnership between the UK and Guyana, and the extensive people-to-people links between our two countries.
  • Members of the public will have the opportunity to meet His Majesty on Friday 30 October in the late afternoon at the Kingston Seawall bandstand.
  • During his wider programme, The King will meet individuals, organisations and communities from across Guyana working on environmental sustainability, biodiversity and community resilience.
  • Engagement with business leaders will reflect growing trade and investment links between the UK and Guyana.

His Majesty King Charles III will visit Guyana on Thursday 29 and Friday 30 October. The State Visit is at the invitation of His Excellency President Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali and comes as Guyana and the UK mark 60 years of bilateral relations.

The visit will celebrate the deep ties between the UK and Guyana, with engagements reflecting our shared interest in nature and sustainability, trade and investment, and the Commonwealth. Throughout the visit, The King will meet young people, business leaders, Indigenous community representatives, and innovators from across Guyanese society, including at the Global Biodiversity Alliance conference which coincides with his visit.

Members of the public will have the opportunity to meet His Majesty on Friday 30 October in the late afternoon at the Kingston Seawall bandstand.

Following his visit to Guyana, His Majesty will attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Antigua and Barbuda.

British High Commissioner to Guyana Joseph Fisher MBE said:

“His Majesty The King’s visit this week will be a special moment to celebrate the modern and dynamic partnership between the UK and Guyana, as our countries mark 60 years of bilateral relations. The King’s visit, at the invitation of His Excellency President Ali, will highlight the many connections between our peoples, and the shared interests that bring our countries together. I am delighted that His Majesty will have the opportunity over the course of the visit to meet people from across Guyanese society, including at a public engagement at the Kingston Seawall.”

During his two-day visit, His Majesty will take part in a series of engagements across Guyana. The King will have an Audience with His Excellency Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali, President of Guyana, at State House, after which His Majesty and the President will attend a State Reception in the State House gardens.

His Majesty will commemorate the shared loss and sacrifice of Guyanese, British and Commonwealth forces at the Georgetown (Rabbit Walk) Memorial. Later, The King will meet elected leaders from The National Toshaos Council to hear about their work representing the Indigenous Peoples of Guyana.

Nature and biodiversity are an important part of the UK-Guyana relationship. The State Visit coincides with the conference of the Global Biodiversity Alliance – of which the UK is a member – reflecting our shared interest in protecting nature and recognising the value of biodiversity. The UK’s Forest Governance, Markets and Climate programme supports Guyana to strengthen forest governance and sustainable forest-based economic development. During the visit, The King will learn more about Guyana’s leading role in global efforts to conserve forests, protect biodiversity and tackle climate change. His Majesty will also meet participants from the Wilton Park Commonwealth Sustainable Cities Initiative Dialogue, to hear about the practical steps being taken towards sustainable urbanisation ahead of CHOGM 2026.

With UK-Guyana trade now reaching £2.2 billion annually, His Majesty will attend a business reception to hear how UK companies are supporting Guyana’s sustainable development. Building on this growing trade relationship, UK Export Finance has up to £3 billion available to support projects in Guyana, helping to facilitate further trade and investment between our two countries. British companies are already active in aviation, infrastructure, professional services, and many wider sectors, demonstrating the breadth of UK-Guyana commercial partnerships.

Strengthening UK-Guyana ties will make both countries safer, stronger and more prosperous and resilient.
