The Jaigobin couple in happier times

A West Coast Berbice family was plunged into a state of mourning Thursday evening after one of their relatives was killed in an accident along the Berbice Bridge Public Road while another is said to be hospitalised in a critical condition.
The dead man has been identified as 33-year-old, Vijay Jaigobin while the injured victim has been identified as his 30-year old wife, Sherry Jaigobin. Sherry is currently a patient at the New Amsterdam Hospital where she is being treated for injuries about her body.
According to relatives, the young woman remains unconscious at the New Amsterdam Hospital but they were told by doctors that she will be transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital.

“She in there hook up on tubes so I don’t know when they will transfer her. They say she’s breathing and everything but that’s all we hearing. The lady that went in to see she said that she looking lil okay but we hoping for the best,” a friend of the deceased said.
Family members flocked the hospital as they received word of the tragic incident. The couple’s three children were also seen at the hospital.

Sherry and her husband, Vijay were heading home at the time of the incident. According to a police report, Vijay, driver of motorcar PYY 6586 was proceeding at an alleged fast rate when he collided with a concrete culvert located on the side of the road.
Up to late Thursday evening family members were still at the hospital waiting for Sherry to be transferred to the Georgetown Hospital.
