Thomas Street Closed to Traffic Until October 11 for Maintenance

Thomas Street will be temporarily closed to vehicular traffic from Thursday, October 8, to Sunday, October 11, to facilitate maintenance works, the Guyana Police Force Traffic Department has announced.

The closure will affect motorists travelling along several adjoining streets in Georgetown, with restrictions imposed on turning movements and parking within the affected area.

According to the Traffic Department, motorists travelling along Middle Street and New Market Street will not be permitted to turn onto Thomas Street. Traffic on Lamaha Street will also be prohibited from turning south onto Thomas Street.

Motorists entering New Market Street from Camp Street and travelling east will be required to exit via either Cummings Street or East Street.

The Police Traffic Department also warned that parking will not be permitted within the cordoned-off area, while double parking is prohibited.

Traffic ranks will be strategically positioned to manage traffic flow and assist motorists during the closure.

Motorists are being urged to exercise caution, comply with the instructions of traffic ranks and make the necessary adjustments to their routes while the maintenance works are underway.
