Guyana opened its League B, Group A campaign with a 1-0 victory over Puerto Rico, with Osaze DeRosario converting a 78th-minute penalty. The Cayman Islands drew 0-0 with Dominica in their opening match.
Today’s match is significant because the Nations League provides a qualification route to the 2027 Concacaf Gold Cup. The four League B group winners will qualify directly, while the two best second-place teams will enter the Gold Cup preliminary round.
