Guyana’s Golden Jaguars begin their 2026/27 Concacaf Nations League campaign today, September 24, against Puerto Rico in a League B Group A encounter at Windsor Park in Roseau, Dominica.
The match, scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Eastern Time, is the opening test of Guyana’s campaign in a group that also includes Dominica and the Cayman Islands. Concacaf has confirmed that the four teams will compete in a group-stage format, with each side facing its opponents during the September-October and November FIFA windows.
For Guyana, the competition provides an opportunity to pursue promotion while also keeping alive a pathway toward qualification for the 2027 Concacaf Gold Cup.
The Golden Jaguars will return to Windsor Park on September 27 to face the Cayman Islands before continuing the group campaign against Dominica in October.
The opening fixture carries added importance because Puerto Rico is one of Guyana’s familiar regional opponents. The two nations last met in the 2023-24 Concacaf Nations League, when Puerto Rico recorded a 3-1 victory in Guyana before the Golden Jaguars won 3-2 in Puerto Rico.
The match also marks the beginning of another competitive cycle for Guyana’s senior men’s national team as it seeks to strengthen its position in the regional football structure.
The centralized tournament format means Guyana’s opening matches are being played in Dominica rather than on home soil. Concacaf introduced the centralized venue arrangement to reduce travel demands and assist member associations with tournament delivery.
With six group matches scheduled overall, Guyana’s results in the opening window will establish the foundation for its campaign.
The immediate objective today is therefore straightforward: secure points against Puerto Rico and begin the Nations League campaign strongly before Sunday’s meeting with the Cayman Islands.
