The 13th Courts Optical Boys’ Under-11 School Football Tournament gets underway today at the Ministry of Education Ground on Carifesta Avenue, with 18 matches scheduled on opening day.
The tournament brings together 32 schools from Georgetown and Regions One through Seven. The teams have been divided into eight groups of four for the preliminary stage.
Among the opening fixtures are St John against Queenstown, Agatash versus Redeemer and Batavia against Ann’s Grove.
Defending champions Leonora Primary return to defend their title in the competition, which has become an important platform for developing young footballers. The tournament runs through October 24.
