The Guyana Amazon Warriors have been eliminated from the Caribbean Premier League despite a spectacular unbeaten century from Shimron Hetmyer.
Hetmyer smashed 102 not out from 45 balls, including eight sixes, as Guyana posted 206-4 against the Jamaica Kingsmen in Qualifier 2 at Kensington Oval.
But Jamaica produced a stunning chase, reaching 207-5 with two balls remaining to win by five wickets and book a place in Sunday’s final against the Antigua & Barbuda Falcons.
Rovman Powell delivered the decisive assault, scoring 40 from 17 balls, while Keacy Carty made 56 and Maaz Sadaqat contributed 41 from 17 balls.
The defeat ends a disappointing playoff run for the Warriors, who had finished the league stage at the top of the table after winning eight of their 10 matches. They now exit the tournament after consecutive playoff defeats.
