Recaptured Prisoner, James Moore

James Moore one of four prisoners who escaped from the Lusignan Prison last year September was on Saturday recaptured during a police operation in Sophia.

Police said in a statement that about 06:15 hours escapee Moore was recaptured in ‘A’-Field, Sophia by ranks of the Guyana Police Force. Prisoner Moore had escaped on September, 29, 2020 while working the kitchen at the Lusignan Prison. He will be charged criminally for escaping from lawful custody.

Meanwhile, police conducted cordon and search exercises on several houses in the areas of: Sophia; Tiger bay; Stabroek Market Square; Bourda Market and Cross Street, Werk en Rust. Three persons were arrested including Moore.

Only on Friday Jack King Paul age 36 years  of Kwatamang Village North Rupununi, Clarence Rodney  age 20 years of Lethem Central c, Yon Rogg Hernandez C/d John Roberts Venezuelan  National age 26 years of Tabatinga Lethem and Xarlos Edwards Thomas Male Venezuelan age 18years of Tabatinga Lethem, escaped from the Lethem Police Station lockup.

During a visit to the scene a party of policemen found a metal rod measuring 1 foot on the eastern side of the lockup next to a dug hole in the ground measuring 3ft in width, length and depth and had an exit point.  The surface of the said dug hole has a 2-inch layer of concrete with red sand beneath.  On the said date about 07:00hrs one prisoner of Tabatinga Lethem Central Rupununi who is in custody for assault, alerted ranks of the absence of the said prisoners from the said lockup. Efforts are being made to locate the said prisoners. Investigation continues.
