School of the Nations congratulates Emmanuel Pereira on his selection to attend the TED Summer School in London following his outstanding performance in the Learning to Be Heard – Global Public Speaking Challenge, an international competition hosted by Immerse Education in partnership with TED Summer School.

Emmanuel was selected from a field of more than 2,000 applicants representing over 130 countries after responding to the challenge prompt, “If you had one minute to speak to the world, what would you speak about and why?” His submission earned him a place in the programme and a 20% scholarship in recognition of his achievement.

The TED Summer School will be held in London UK from 26 July to 8 August 2026, bringing together promising young people from around the world for an intensive programme focused on public speaking, leadership, communication, and the exchange of ideas.

Recognising the significance of Emmanuel’s accomplishment and the opportunity it represents, School of the Nations has provided a generous contribution covering airfare and other expenses to help offset the costs associated with his participation in the programme.

High School Principal Mark Boodie said Emmanuel’s success reflects the qualities the school seeks to cultivate in its students.

“Emmanuel’s achievement is the result of hard work, intellectual courage, and a willingness to engage with ideas that matter. Being selected from such a highly competitive international field is a remarkable accomplishment. We are delighted that he will represent both School of the Nations and Guyana at the TED Summer School, and we wish him every success.”

Emmanuel’s selection is a source of pride for the School of the Nations and highlights the ability of Guyanese students to excel on the international stage. The school looks forward to welcoming him back with the knowledge, experiences, and perspectives he will gain through this unique educational opportunity.
