A 24-year-old man and father of two   died after his throat was cut by a relative during a fracas at a birthday party at D’Edward Village West Bank Berbice Sunday afternoon.

Reports are that the victim Reaz Mohamed, a fisherman also known as Boye , and the  killer who was identified as his cousin were celebrants at a birthday party at his sisters’ home at Lot 1 DEdward when a dispute arose between Mohamed and one of the guests at the party.

Mohamed it was said was fighting with the guest when his killer intervened.
The man who is also a fisherman  is said to have had a knife in his possession and was waving it around when the blade came into contact with the throat of the deceased.

The 24 year old fell and  died after bleeding profusely on the spot.

Relatives said that the wound  could have been unintentional“These two men were cousins and were close. It was case of  both being under the influence and an unintentional but fatal blow being inflicted by one of them on the other one,” a relative said.

The suspected killer has since turned himself over to the police.
