The Ministry of Home Affairs (Guyana) has launched an online system allowing motorists and organisations to apply for vehicle tint exemptions under the country’s new regulations.

In a press release issued on March 13, the ministry said the Online Tint Waiver Application System was developed in collaboration with the Guyana Police Force to provide a digital platform for individuals, companies and organisations seeking exemptions under the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic (Tint) Regulations 2026.

The portal enables applicants to submit requests, upload required documents, track the progress of their applications and download approved waivers online at https://tint.moha.gov.gy.

Minister of Home Affairs Oneidge Walrond, M.P., said the new system is aimed at improving public access and strengthening transparency.

According to Walrond, the platform “strengthens transparency and improves public access to services while supporting enforcement of the national tint regulations.”

Under the new regulations, the minimum allowable Visible Light Transmission (VLT) levels are 25% for front side windows and 20% for rear side windows and the rear windscreen. No tint is permitted on the front windscreen except for a six-inch visor strip.

The ministry also reminded motorists that the current amnesty period will end on March 31, 2026, after which the Guyana Police Force will fully enforce the regulations. Non-compliance may result in a $30,000 fine.
