Bharrat Jagdeo: flying high in Delhi and London

By GHK Lall- It was warming to see Vice President Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo hitting his stride, back in the groove.  He didn’t show signs of rust, which was also good.  When the PPP floats on the fat of the land, it would be the ultimate in sloppy presentation for its topmost member coming out looking like a rag-and-bone man.  Way to go, bro, and that was only from what could have been spied from over by New Delhi.  Said it before; saying it again: when Dr. J wants to put on a show, a show is what the people get.

From GT to New Delhi with love from the PPP Govt.  Moving on with climate change priorities in the Global South (regrettably, of course) without the cooling presence of Mighty America.  Big Don John must be taken aback with that move in New Delhi, where the fervently loyal-to-the-US, PPP, broke ranks and powered forth alone, while dragging other leaders from the Global South along.  Is the PPP spearheading a new counter order, that’s the question stirring, should there be more maverick moves like that one?  Bears careful monitoring, to see where that leads.

Me, I’m monitoring more mundane matters.  Like where the Bharrat Jagdeo entourage stayed in New Delhi and ole London on the way home.  It was at the Imperial Hotel in the fabled East.  And, if one is searching for the fabulous in chilly Delhi, the Imperial is the place.

Places like the Imperial and that deluxe Marriott in London have a starting price of US$700 and climbing per head per night, plus all those expensive extras that only luxury hotels know how to make look good in their bills.

What can I say, other than only the best for the best; and who is Bhai Bharrat, if not the best of the best!  Look!  let’s not get caught up in the cheap and shabby.

Guyana is on top of the world currently.  Bharrat Jagdeo didn’t have to go by the Himalayas to project height.  It’s where Guyana is, and where Guyana is, all can be assured that VP Jagdeo prowls several floors higher.  Talk about a political mandarin?

Say hello to a regal leader.  The best part of jetting to New Delhi, then winging over to still swinging London for a little refining of the Shakespearean, is that it’s on the house.  Guyanese pay those bills.  While half of them don’t have enough to seat on a daily basis in this oil rich paradise, Guyana can afford first class traveling and boarding for its leading lights in keeping with the standards set by Gulf States oil sheiks.

Let no one look down on the leaders of the PPP Govt busying themselves with doing the business of the Guyanese people.  What citizens are eyewitnesses to is the traveling and junket games played by ruling PPP politicians, amid the hunger games lived with by poor Guyanese.

Since there is so much dealing and pivoting happening, and all under the guise of managing the nation’s oil business, I would be slacking off, if I didn’t recommend that an investment be made in the buying or leasing of a fully-customized Gulf Stream G650ER.  It would be reserved for the exclusive use of the Big Three in the PPP and their families, friends, and favorites.

Guyanese have a few other ‘Fs’ to describe those PPP insiders.  I am at liberty to mention one only: Fiends.  These characters are having a wonderful life, while ordinary Guyanese are asking themselves what to make of the life they live.  So much coming out of the ground, and much more from below the seafloor, yet so little coming around to them.

So much for so few; so little thought of for so many.  A set of Guyanese from the PPP Govt in penthouses, while it is the doghouse for bottom feeding Guyanese.  They tell me that’s equity, that’s fraternity, and that is the special math of democracy, known only to the PPP.

Finally, no one expects someone of the stature of Bharrat Jagdeo to travel by fishing boat to New Delhi, and stay in the neighborhood Courtyard.  But the Imperial and that particular London Marriott are too rich for a Bed and Breakfast banna like me.  Politicians give themselves the royal treatment.  The people given a kick in the groin, and a bill for their pains.
