The deadline has been changed from March 7, 2026, to February 27, 2026.

According to the Committee, the decision to bring forward the deadline was made after several entries were received immediately upon launching the competition. Subsequently, there has since been a halt of entries.

Guyana gained independence from Britain on May 26, 1966, under the leadership of Forbes Burnham and his People’s National Congress (PNC)-led coalition government.

The New York celebration of Guyana’s Diamond Jubilee Anniversary of Independence is scheduled for June 5 – 7, 2026.

The theme of the celebration is “Feel The Riddim Of The Nation @ Sixty.” The winner of the logo competition will receive US $1,000.00.

For more information, interested persons can contact the Committee at guyanaindependencecomnyc@gmail.com or call 347-282-8551.

The announcement was issued by the Guyana Independence Celebration Committee New York on February 25, 2026.
