Guyanese national Ronley Floyd Bynoe was on Thursday remanded to prison after appearing before acting Chief Magistrate Faith McGusty at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court in connection with an extradition request from the United States.
The court was told that Bynoe is wanted in Ohio, where a September 20, 2023 indictment accuses him of misuse of a Social Security number, bank fraud and aggravated identity theft.
During the hearing, Bynoe waived his right to legal representation and confirmed that he did not intend to retain an attorney for the proceedings. He also declined to challenge the extradition request, indicating his willingness to return to the United States to answer the charges and make his case before that justice system.
After satisfying herself that Bynoe understood the implications of his decision, the magistrate ordered that he be held in custody as arrangements proceed for his extradition to the United States.
