Dear Editor,
Extra-judicial killings, rampant corruption, the Mocha atrocities, marginalization of large segments of society, executive and societal lawlessness, two consecutive rigged elections by the PPPC regime and GECOM, and the transfer of Guyana’s wealth to the friends, families, and cronies of the ruling PPPC regime and Aubrey Norton’s PNCR/APNU Coalition is primarily focused on limiting WIN’s influence as Guyana’s main opposition.
That’s the focus of the selfish, egotistical, and compromised leadership of the PNCR/APNU Coalition. Norton fought against having a consensus Presidential candidate before the September elections. He was adamant that only he, Aubrey Compton Norton, should be considered for the leader’s position. He rejected all of the following people for the Presidential candidate: Roysdale Forde, Amanza Walton Desir, Nigel Hughes, Carl Greenidge, and even Terrence Campbell.
Norton even rejected the suggestions during the last election, that all of the opposition parties should together and coordinate positions so that most polling places can be monitored. The main beneficiary of that rejection was the PPPC, because hundreds and probably over a thousand polling places were not monitored. That was not an oversight, but willful negligence for which the PPPC is very happy with Aubrey Norton.
Thus, given Aubrey Norton’s poor performance at the last election, his ineffective leadership, his lack of strategic vision, and his outdated management style, I urge the remaining members and supporters of the PNCR/APNU Coalition to call for his resignation or leave the party until Mr Norton has no influence on the PNCR’S/ APNU leadership.
He has diminished the party and things will get worse if he remains at the helm of the PNCR. Send him packing because he’s more comfortable working with the repressive and kleptocratic PPPC regime, rather than with the new emerging democratic opposition.
Yours truly,
Brian Collison
