Caribbean Airlines has marked progress in its sustainability programme with an employee recognition event in Port of Spain, celebrating staff and teams credited with advancing the airline’s environmental, social and operational goals.

The event, held recently in Trinidad and Tobago, highlighted the role of employee engagement and alignment with global sustainability standards in strengthening the airline’s responsible operations. Central to the programme was the Employee Sustainability Leaderboard Challenge, an internal initiative aimed at encouraging innovation, accountability and cross-departmental participation in sustainable practices.

The Operations Division emerged as the overall champion of the challenge, while nine employees were recognised as Most Valuable Players for what the airline described as exceptional contributions to promoting sustainability across the organisation.

Acting Chief Executive Officer of Caribbean Airlines, Nirmala Ramai, congratulated employees for their dedication and leadership, noting that the success of the airline’s sustainability efforts is driven by staff commitment. She emphasised that consistent actions taken by employees are essential to advancing sustainability goals and building a resilient future for the airline.

The recognition event also drew attention to Caribbean Airlines’ broader sustainability pillars, including education and youth engagement. Among these initiatives is the Caribbean Airlines Career Caravan, described as the airline’s flagship education programme. According to the airline, the initiative has reached more than 100,000 students across the region, raising awareness of career opportunities in aviation and related fields.

Caribbean Airlines said it remains committed to advancing its sustainability journey, with continued focus on employee involvement, education and responsible business practices across its regional operations.
